D&D Plumbing takes what steps we can to do our part.
Current company policy includes the following..
-We take all our large cardboard packaging to drop off at the recycling center.
-Water heaters and other large items are recycled at the recycling center.
-Old plumbing fixtures and pipes are dismantled and sorted for recycling.
-When installing new sump pumps (when necessary) we test the products by performing a "flushing" of the homeowners water heater. This is recommended to prolong the lifespan of the heater. By using the water that needs to be drained we help both the homeowner and the environment by not wasting fresh water to fill the pit and test the pump.
-When possible we schedule jobs and estimates carefully. By sending the work vehicle out on a schedule we are able to reduce fuel consumption.
-When possible we do electric correspondence. By sending PDF versions of estimates or billing we reduce the number of hard copy sheets used, and prevent pages and pages of wasted paper.
-We recommend environmentally friendly products whenever possible (low water consumption etc)
-We maintain our supplies and equipment to prevent waste by replacement.
-We take the time with our customers to explain how to properly maintain their new products and fixtures. By helping them keep a long lifespan on their products we reduce the need for frequent replacement and waste.
-We recycle all office materials (ink cartridges etc) and incoming mail and paperwork that are not necessary to our files.
-We blog on tips to educate our friends and customers on ways to make their plumbing and water use more environmentally friendly
We at D&D love our world, and hope to continue to find more ways to accept our responsibility to our environment.
