I can recall once when a woman called late at night with sewage backed up into her bathtub. She was so upset and I remained calm and told her my dad would be out to help her immediately. The long repetitive list of thanking me fell on deaf ears.. I did not realize it was "anything special" to come immediately to help her.. it was just what dad did.
Now as an adult and a partner in D&D Plumbing I can understand and relate to what made this woman so emotional. We have customers call for emergency service and they are shocked when I answer the phone at "non standard" business hours. They tell me that they went down the list and I was the first person to answer the phone. This still surprises me as we are not the only company advertising to provide 24 hr emergency service.
